TEXAS COMMISSION ON THE ARTS (TCA)
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How do I apply for a grant from TCA?
A: To access the grant applications, you must first sign up for a user name and password by calling TCA at 512-463-5535 extension zero or toll-free at 800-252-9415 and speaking to a Program Staff member.
Q: When is the grant application deadline?
A: Plan ahead! Minigrant and Special Opportunity grants are now submitted for approval to the Grants & Services Committee at the quarterly Commission meetings. New deadlines are in place for all minigrant applications. All requests will be reviewed on a quarterly basis, and should be submitted with the following deadlines in mind:
First quarter: For activities occurring September 1 - December 14, please submit applications by August 1.
Second quarter: For activities occurring December 15 - March 14, please submit applications by November 1.
Third quarter: For activities occurring March 15 - June 14, please submit applications by February 1.
Fourth quarter: For activities occurring June 15 - August 31, please submit applications by May 1.
Once the quarterly deadline has passed, no other minigrants will be accepted for activities happening during that quarter. Please consider this new timeline when making minigrant or Special Opportunity applications.
Plan ahead! TCA will require a DUNS number (Data Universal Numbering System) on all grant applications, including minigrant applications. DUNS numbers are FREE and are provided by the commercial company Dun & Bradstreet. Plan ahead since it will take time to obtain your organization's DUNS number. TCA requires this number so that we can track arts activity in Texas and supply statistics regarding the arts industry locally, regionally, and nationally.
